The ISTAF is the world’s largest meet in 2011: at least 53’000 spectators will see 11 world champions from Daegu and five current world-record holders at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Alongside Betty Heidler (Hammer Throw), Barbara Spotakova (Javelin), Yohan Blake (100 metre) and Michael Frater (both 4×100 Metre Relay), Kirani James (400 metre), Sanya Richards-Ross and Francena McCorory (both 4x400m), Jesse Williams (High Jump), Dwight Phillips (long jump), Robert Harting (Discus Throw), David Storl (Shot Put).

The International Stadium Festival in Berlin will be 90 years old this year and is at the same time celebrating its 70th run. Berlin Olympic Stadium, with which the ISTAF has been inseparably connected since 1937, has occasion to celebrate: it will be 75 years old. At least 30 medallists of WC in Daegu will be in the starting blocks. Altogether they won 34 medals, including 12 gold and 11 each of silver and bronze.
About 53’000 spectators will follow the competitions in the 17 disciplines of the world’s oldest and largest track and field meet. “For the first time we have the javelin, discus and hammer throw in one event: no other meet in the world manages that!”, said Gerhard Janetzky, meeting director.
The weather forecast for Sunday promises a sunny day with few clouds and temperatures of up to 27 degrees Celsius. The probability of rain during the day is only two to five percent.
