Adrian Silisteanu, directeur de photographie, est passé avec brio à la réalisation. Adrian Silisteanu est diplômé de l’Université des médias de Bucarest, département de la photographie en 2003. Son premier film, Hooked (2008), a également été le premier film de Silisteanu en tant que cinéaste. En 2012, Silisteanu a dirigé son premier court métrage, The Ditch (Santul) (2012). Il a également travaillé avec le célèbre directeur de théâtre roumain Silviu Purcarete pour son film Somewhere in Palilua (2012) et il a été cinéaste pour les deux saisons de la version roumaine de HBO TV in treatment (2010-2012). Son film Written / Unwritten (2017) a été projeté dans une kyrielle de festivals : à IFF Rotterdam, Tampere FF. à Bruxelles, à Odense, et ces jours-ci au FIFF de Namur.

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), underway this month, is not immune to the charms of math and science, with past crowd-pleasers such as The Theory of Everything and The Martian. As a mathematics professor with a love for film and a Patron’s Circle membership that offers access to many of the festival’s premieres, I go on an annual search for STEM-centric movies.
