L’Association Claude et Félix Lanzmann (ACFL), présidée par Dominique Lanzmann, veuve du réalisateur, a annoncé l’inscription de Shoah (1985), au registre de Mémoire du monde de l’UNESCO. Les Commissions nationales française et allemande de l’organisation onusienne pour l’éducation, la science et la culture, avaient proposé conjointement la candidature du film à la Mémoire du monde. L’ACFL a porté la candidature de la France et celle du Musée juif de Berlin celle de l’Allemagne, Musée juif qui en outre a été choisi par l’ACFL comme dépositaire des archives sonores préparatoires à la Shoah. Vor 25 Jahren wurde absolut Medien, einen Fachverlag für übersehene und unterbewertete Filme, gegründet. Mit dem Aufkommen der Videocassette nahm das selbstbestimmte Sehen seinen Anfang. Seitdem hat absolut Medien knapp 2.000 Filme veröffentlicht. Die Selbstbestimmung des Sehens hat sich gewandelt von der VHS-Videokassette über DVD und Blu-ray zum Streamen. Die Feststellung der Gründer bleibt jedoch die gleiche:
Noch immer gibt es Filme, die zu kurz kommen, fehlen im überbordenden Angebot. Noch immer präsentieren wir Arbeiten, die sonst nicht zu finden sind.

In these troubling times when the world remembers the liberation of Auschwitz by the Russian army 75 years ago, many voices of negationism are being raised in parallel, or, more insidiously, expressions of relativism are being heard and are beginning to take root in the passage of memory. For example, recently, in Germany, but also in many European countries, the number of victims of Nazi ideology is openly by young people during history lessons or visits to places of memory. According to a survey conducted by the YouGov research institute at the request of the German news agency dpa, 22 percent of those surveyed believe that the Holocaust is too important a topic in the German culture of remembrance. The rise of extreme right-wing extremists in the political and public arena is not unrelated to this worrying process, with the very problematic access of the AfD party to the most important political bodies in Germany, given that Alexander Gauland, the leader of the AfD, declared in 2018 that “Hitler and the Nazis are but a bird shit in over 1000 years of successful German history”.

Der Berliner Spätsommer reimt sich auf das ilb, das Internationale Literaturfestival, sein reichhaltiges Programm, seine kulturellen und politischen Positionen und hochkarätige Gäste, die ihre Werke präsentieren und ein interessiertes und informiertes Publikum treffen.
Das 18. internationale literaturfestival berlin (ilb) findet vom 5. bis 15. September 2018 statt. Das Festival ist auch in diesem Jahr zu Gast im Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Zudem werden Veranstaltungen des ilb an anderen Kulturstandorten der Stadt zu erleben sein – so zum Beispiel im Museum für Naturkunde in Mitte, dem silent green Kulturquartier im Wedding und dem aquarium (Südblock) in Kreuzberg. Das Festival bietet seinen Besucher*innen vielfältigste Gelegenheiten, auf bekannte und hierzulande weniger bekannte Autor*innen zu treffen und sich mittels Prosa, Lyrik, Nonfiction, Graphic Novel und bemerkenswerter Kinder- und Jugendliteratur hochaktuellen Themen zu nähern. Insgesamt erwartet das 18. ilb rund 200 Gäste aus über 50 Ländern. Sechs Themenschwerpunkte werden das Programm in diesem Jahr prägen: „Decolonizing Wor:l:ds“, „Nature Writing“, „The Art of Cooking“, „The Politics of Drugs“ und „Die Evolution der menschlichen Kultur“ und der Kongress “What Comes After the Nation State?”
